The HeroMode Story
Hello! This is Jen 👋, the n = 1 team behind HeroMode.
I've dreamed about making HeroMode since 2016. Why 2016? Well, that was the year that Pokémon Go came out. And like many people all around the world, it changed how I lived for months. I walked more, I ran, and I discovered new places.
It made me realize there's amazing power in "making things fun". If we can turn the things we
have to do into things we want to do, then we can program our behaviors towards our goals.If Pokémon Go can make me repeatedly attempt curved great throws, then there must be a way I can program myself to get up and do dishes, finish reading that book, and go to the gym.
We released the first version of HeroMode in 2022. And since then, we've continuously built more features to make HeroMode joyfully motivating.
In HeroMode, you go on Adventures. You complete Quests. You earn points and coins, and you redeem rewards. You design your own adventures, your quests, and your rewards. You define the goals you want to reach, and the rewards that motivate you.
Motivation is personal. So we make HeroMode flexible for everyone to shape their own experience. And it's important to have a good experience. You do more what you enjoy. And you get better the more you do. So task management should be human experience management.
What I wish is that HeroMode can help you do all the things you want and need to do with a bit more joy. And with that extra bit of joy, you can persist more. And with that extra bit of persistance, you can achieve what you didn't think was possible.
And HeroMode certainly has helped me do what I didn't think was possible. I've never made an app before. And now here is HeroMode!
